The people of Israel are made up primarily of Jews with a large minority of Arabs. The Jews of Israel are primarily immigrants coming from both Europe and the Middle East. In recent years nearly one million Jews immigrated to Israel from the Soviet Union. Hebrew is the official language of the country.
