US Victory in Hills Around Khesan

In one of the fiercest battles of the war, US marines defeat North Vietnamesetroops on the hills near the airstrip at Khe Sanh. The US troops benefitfrom massive air support. During the battle, 160 US servicemen are killedand 764 men wounded - half the effective fighting force. The Communistslose over 940 men as the US forces capture their position.
