| British novelist and critic Anthony Burgess is perhaps best known for his chilling work, A Clockwork Orange (1962), which painted a terrifying portrait of a future society marked by violence and government-supported mind control. Burgess also produced scholarly work on James Joyce, as well as numerous book reviews and even orchestral compositions.
